Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Flexalite Pty Ltd?

Flexalite Pty Ltd is the only authorised dealer of CeeLite™ innovative LEC technology in Australia. Flexalite distributes CeeLite™ range of LEC panels, Inverters and controllers to a whole range of industries including: lighting, architectural, interior design, advertising, signage, hospitality and many more.

Is Flexalite owned by CeeLite™?

Flexalite is not owned by Ceelite™, It is an Australian PTY LTD company that is solely authorised to resell CeeLite™ LEC panels, Inverters and controllers in Australia.

What is CeeLite™?

CeeLite™ is the world’s first commercial manufacturer of Light Emitting Capacitor (LEC) technology that is destined to redefine the way lighting is used today. CeeLite™’s advanced LEC technology turns any surface into a light source. Ranging in size from cell phones to dry wall, CeeLite™ LEC technology creates new markets where lighting was previously impossible and replaces traditional lighting; in floors, walls, ceilings and within unconventional objects.

What is LEC Technology?

CeeLite™’s LEC technology provides flawless surface illumination as the result of major research and development engineering advancements in electroluminescence (EL). CeeLite™’s LEC technology is comprised of three critical components: OSRAM SYLVANIA’s higher quality light emitting phosphors for brightness combined with CeeLite™’s proprietary blending processes for the whitest colour; advanced, proprietary, programmable Flatline Inverters to control levels of brightness and ambience; and advanced “packaging materials” for lower heat generation, phosphor protection and systemization which has created a platform technology.

What are CeeLite™ Flatline Inverters and how do they differ from standard inverters?

CeeLite™’s Flatline Inverters power CeeLite™’s LEC technology. These advanced, programmable inverters provide controls delivering uniform surface illumination with higher brightness. They constantly monitor the output of the CeeLite™ LEC panels and provide the power necessary to maintain the brightness level selected by the user.

CeeLite™’s Flatline Inverters feature embedded microprocessors that enable a variety of programming capabilities, such as: motion and/or photo sensors with external sensing jacks and dimming, fading and flashing standard features.

How do CeeLite™ LEC panels compare to conventional EL lighting?

Compared to early stage and standard EL products, CeeLite™’s LEC-based commercial quality lighting offers uniform surface illumination, the whitest colour, superior brightness, long life and programmable options. CeeLite™ also is the only LEC manufacturer to fabricate UL approved inverters.

How bright are CeeLite™ LEC panels?

Standard CeeLite™ LEC panels can be powered to illuminate at 200 cd/m2 which is often ideal for most backlit applications. However, users may adjust the brightness of standard CeeLite™ LEC panels between 50 cd/m2 and 200 cd/m2. CeeLite™ LEC panels with 300 cd/m2 or higher are available in custom orders.

What is the colour temperature of CeeLite™ LEC panels?

The colour temperature of CeeLite™ LEC panels range from 6,500 to 7,500 degrees Kelvin, which enables more vibrant graphics for true colour tones, images and anything printed on clear, backlit media. New panels with additional colour temperatures are under development.

Are CeeLite™ LEC panel’s environmentally-friendly?

Yes. CeeLite™ LEC panels are constructed with phosphors and screen printable, recycled compositions.

Where are CeeLite™ LEC panels manufactured?

The fabrication of CeeLite™ LEC panels currently takes place in Taiwan. There are plans to open a manufacturing facility in the United States within the year. The "materials" or components for the technology are produced in the United States. Research and development is split between Taiwan and the United States.

How is CeeLite™ involved in the PHOSPHORS BY SYLVANIA™ program?

It is a cooperative marketing initiative launched by OSRAM SYLVANIA in February 2005 to illustrate that inclusion of SYLVANIA’s higher performance materials are key to higher performance end products. CeeLite™ is the initial participant in this program.

What is the energy consumption of CeeLite™ panels?

CeeLite™ panels are extremely energy efficient by consuming only about 9.6 milliwatts per cm square.

Why are CeeLite™ panels better?

As a result from immense R&D our panels provide flawless illumination, does not suffer from de-lamination, heat spots or bad connections. It is also flexible and able to light up complex shapes. It’s vibration and impact resistant as well as being extremely energy efficient.

Can CeeLite™ panels be cut?

Yes, but it voids the warranty. However for custom type applications a panel can be cut into virtually any shape but at least 65% of the edge has to be maintained to allow enough charge to illuminate the panel. The edges must also be sealed to prevent moisture and electric shocks or shorts. A good quality tape will seal the edges well. Alternatively the factory can manufacture custom shape and sizes.

How do I extend the life panel?

Panel life can be significantly extended by altering the mode of operation to either flashing or sequencing and decreasing the brightness of the panel. By doing this it will greatly increase the life usage by 2 or 3 times.

How is CeeLite™ installed?

Installation is dependent on the application. CeeLite™ LEC panels can be easily applied within minutes by using a standard adhesive or any lightweight frame commonly used for window or wall signage. The lightweight, impact-resistant, flat light bulbs do not require extra installation time or space for installation.

Can CeeLite™ LEC panels be powered by low voltage batteries?

Yes. CeeLite™ LEC panels can run on batteries with a voltage as low as 2.4 V and as high as 12/24 V (vehicle applications), depending on the panel size and expected usage.

Is CeeLite™ LEC panels affected by ambient light?

Yes. Any backlit environment is affected by ambient lighting changes. However, users can adjust the brightness of CeeLite™ LEC panels as needed.

Are CeeLite™ panels waterproof?

CeeLite™ standard panels are not waterproof. Waterproofing panels can be custom ordered from the factory. Alternatively additional laminates can be used to waterproof the panels.

Can CeeLite™ Inverters be used outside?

The current Inverters are for indoor use; however you can house the Inverter in a sealed case to protect it if used outdoors. Outdoor Inverters will be available in the future.

Are CeeLite™ panels durable?

CeeLite™ panels are extremely durable; they are vibration and impact resistant.

How will CeeLite™ panels perform in adverse conditions?

Conditions such as fog, dust, haze or smoke will bring out the best in CeeLite™ panels compared to traditional light sources such as incandescent and LED’s. It can be seen miles away from a distance in adverse conditions. CeeLite™ panels are one of the most visible light sources today.

Are CeeLite™ panels moisture resistant?

CeeLite™ panels are resistant to moisture.

Can I strobe or run CeeLite™ panels in sequence?

Yes, running a strobe setting on the panel is ok. It will also significantly increase the life span of the panel by 2 or 3 times. There is also a controller that can run multiple CeeLite™ panels in sequence for a dramatic display of lighting.
